A Social Church
Stepping into June, we have more time for socialising as a church family, hopefully finding better days and longer evenings and we remember the importance of community.
Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Our gatherings, whether for worship, fellowship, or service, are essential in nurturing our faith and strengthening our bonds with one another. On that note we did well last week on the walk organised by Tony Ball to the Abbeystead, stopping for a memorial service and prayers at the pumping station. As we walked together, we commented on her beautiful carpet of flowers was in the woods, bluebells, red campion, speedwell, mayflowers etc, and how even something as poignant as that can be positive for the church family. Romans tells us that all things work for good to those who love the Lord. Anyway, plenty more coming up, Catterall Gala on Saturday, the 1st of June 1:30 pm, Saint Helen’s parish barbecue on Friday 7th June, first compline evening service at Saint Michael’s, 5:30 pm Sunday 9th June, our first prayer and worship in Catterall Village Hall on Tuesday, the 11th of June while on the same evening Saint Michael’s church is open for refreshments and a catch up with the neighbours, featuring the wonderful cakes that Linda and Sharon prepare for us, Saint Michael’s Gala on the 15th ofJune, confirmation at Saint Michael’s on Sunday 23rd of June 4 pm, Saint Helen’s compline at 5:30 pm later that day, visitation for the admission of church wardens Monday 24th of June 7:30 pm at Goosnargh, JAM service Sunday 30th of June 4:15 pm at Saint Michael’s…
You get the picture, lots to join in with, hope to see you there!
With all good wishes
The Rev'd Andrew Wilkinson MA
Vicar & Area Dean of Garstang
